Outside Sales Representative - Food Distribution

Location: travel throughout Long island

This is an Outside sales role - MAJORITY of time will be spent in the field

Job Description

As a Sales Representative, your primary responsibility is to sell food and non-food items to both new and existing customers. You will identify and develop new customer relationships, aiming to achieve sales and gross profit goals. Representing the company in a professional and knowledgeable manner, you will manage the business relationship between food service operators and the company.

Responsibilities

  • Sales and Customer Acquisition: Sell food and non-food items to both new and existing customers, focusing on identifying and developing new customer relationships to achieve sales and gross profit goals.
  • Professional Representation: Represent the company in a professional and knowledgeable manner, ensuring a positive image and strong business relationships.
  • Account Management: Manage the business relationship between food service operators and the company, growing sales by acquiring new customers and introducing new items to current accounts.
  • Accounts Receivables: Oversee all accounts regarding Accounts Receivables, working closely with the credit department to keep all accounts current.
  • Product Promotion: Identify and create a need for products from all categories offered by the company, ensuring customers are aware of the full range of offerings.
  • Order Management: Record and transmit all customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Customer Visits: Visit customers on a consistent basis as agreed upon by the customer and the Sales Representative, maintaining strong relationships and addressing any needs.
  • Delivery Coordination: Adhere to the delivery schedule as pre-determined by the Transportation Department, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Customer Service: Handle all customer service issues necessary to maintain a good business relationship between the customer and the company.
  • Event Participation: Attend sales meetings, food shows, and other events hosted by the company to stay informed and engaged with industry trends.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as directed by the Sales Manager/Director.
  • Compliance: Follow all rules outlined in the Employee Handbook, ensuring agreement and compliance.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years of Sales experience
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Ability to manage current accounts and prospect new clients
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Food Distribution or Service industry experience or any experience working with Frozen and Fresh Produce and Meats.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (nice to have)
  • Competitive spirit and results-driven mentality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to cover Long Island OR New York City territory

Work Environment

The role involves travel within a designated territory with visits to the headquarters in the Bronx as needed. The territories open are Long Island and NYC. Work involves interaction with various stakeholders and attendance at industry events.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.26/hr.
