Year over year Energy Trust is recognized as one of the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon.

Our Vision

Clean, affordable energy for everyone.

Our Commitment to Diversity

We recognize the lack of diversity in our industry, and we actively seek to address it with our hiring and retention practices as well as our values. We believe every person and their lived experience is integral to building a vibrant culture and delivering effective services to all customers we serve. We are committed to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, and we encourage candidates with diverse backgrounds and experience to apply.

Our Location

Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. DEI Specialist would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum for all staff and other in-person meetings. Occasional travel may be required to support relationship-building or attend external partner meetings.

What We’re Looking For:

The DEI Specialist supports Energy Trust’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Services Team in advancing the organization's external equity strategy. This role functions as a liaison across teams and provides strategic support to internal departments - such as Programs, Communications & Customer Service (CCS), Planning and Evaluation - on how to equitably engage priority customers.

Energy Trust defines priority customers as customers within environmental justice communities, including communities of color, communities experiencing lower incomes, Tribal communities, rural communities, coastal communities, communities with limited infrastructure, and other communities traditionally underrepresented in public processes and adversely harmed by environmental and health hazards, including seniors, youth, and persons with disabilities.

The DEI Specialist plays a key role in supporting the implementation of the DEI Services team’s strategies and goals in alignment with Energy Trust of Oregon’s Strategic Plan, tracking and reporting progress on outcomes, and aligning organizational practices with Energy Trust’s Equity Plan.

The CCS department leads all outreach and external stakeholder engagement. This role does not manage or lead those functions but works collaboratively to support internal alignment and planning to ensure equity-centered engagement strategies are successfully implemented.

The DEI Specialist will report to the Director of DEI Services and partner closely with Sr. Program Manager – DEI.

What You’ll Do:

·Support the implementation of Energy Trust’s Equity Plan and track progress toward meeting the Equity Metrics established by the Oregon Public Utility Commission (OPUC).

·Coordinate DEI Services team activities, document progress, and ensure alignment with DEI Services Group Strategies & Goals in support of Energy Trust of Oregon’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, particularly the focus area of creating greater impact for priority customers.

· In collaboration with the Planning & Evaluation team, collect and synthesize data and stories that illustrate Energy Trust’s equity journey and demonstrate how DEI Services activities support outcomes for priority customers.

·Provide logistical and operational support for the Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) and DEI Committee, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, communications, and note-taking.

·Collaborate with CCS on inclusive communications strategies and engagement planning to ensure alignment with DEI goals.

·Support the DEI Services Team in identifying trending and effective DEI strategies that aid in organizational cultural responsiveness and development.

·Support internal teams in integrating community and advisory input into decision-making and workplans.

·Maintain and update the DEI Services SharePoint Site and internal systems that house tools, templates, and resources.

· Assist with the development and application of DEI tools (e.g., DEI Lens, planning templates, inclusive engagement checklists).

·Coordinate and support internal learning opportunities that build staff capacity to engage with priority customers in a culturally responsive manner.

·Partner with programs and support teams to clarify equity-related goals and their connection to metrics, tools, and strategic priorities.

·Regularly monitor and assess Energy Trust’s practices, programs, and policies to identify opportunities to apply the organization’s DEI lens.

·Help identify and coordinate opportunities to support relationship-building with community-based organizations (CBOs) and communities of color, in collaboration with CCS and Programs.

·Serve as a communications liaison by tracking and reporting on the outcomes of DEI initiatives and sharing updates across the organization in partnership with CCS.

·Ensure timely updates to DEI Services’ calendars, documentation, and reporting systems.

·Model inclusive and respectful workplace practices that align with Energy Trust’s equity values.

·Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

·Perform all functions of the job in a safe manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

·This position has no supervisory responsibilities

What You’ll Need:

·  Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, sociology, communications, public administration, data science, or a related field focused on organizational change, community engagement, or data analysis or equivalent professional experience or any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

·  3-5 years' experience supporting DEI initiatives, metric tracking, or narrative documentation in a collaborative environment.

·   Experience working with or in support of priority communities such as communities of color, rural communities, people with lower incomes, and environmental justice communities.

·  Familiarity with DEI principles, equity frameworks, and inclusive planning in professional contexts.

·  Strong organizational and communication skills, cross-functional coordination, and documentation.

·  Experience with data-related tasks such as tracking performance metrics, summarizing qualitative/quantitative input, and preparing reports.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaborative platforms such as SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.

·  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks across diverse stakeholders.

·  Interest in clean energy, sustainability, nonprofit work, or community-serving organizations is preferred.

While we don’t require a cover letter, it’s highly encouraged and yes, our hiring team will absolutely read it! Use your cover letter to tell us more about you - what excites you about this role, why Energy Trust’s mission resonates with you, or how your unique experience could bring something new to the team. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by July 28, 2025.
