Teller County's Department of Human Services located in Woodland Park, CO is seeking an experienced supervisor to oversee Case Managers in the Assistance Payments/TANF program, Child Care and Child Support Services. This role involves creating, implementing, and managing contracts related to Assistance Payments, TANF, and Child Support.
What You'll Do:
(1) Plan, organize, implement and oversee work in assigned programs and functions. Design and develop new programs/methods to achieve unit goals; develop systematic methods of implementing programs and monitoring performance.
(2) Supervise work within the team to assure coverage, efficiency and effectiveness; organize and assign specific duties according to knowledge and skill of staff; provide supervision and consultation.
(3) Responsible for writing, implementing and managing all necessary contracts and policies pertaining to Assistance Payments, TANF, Child Care and Child Support.
(4) Schedule staff; conduct individual and team meetings to establish and monitor guidelines; provide written and verbal instructions; establish, evaluate and revise unit and personnel goals.
(5) Performs quality control duties to assure program compliance.
(6) Training. Responsible to provide unit/individual trainings as needed.
(7) Interview and participate with Director in selection of employees for unit.
(8) Work with community as representative of the Department to coordinate programs, develop joint projects and implement more effective and efficient services. Coordinate with other units on issues and clients of mutual concern; participate in leadership meetings.
(9) Perform annual staff performance appraisals, develop individual performance goals and evaluate progress periodically.
(10) Resolve problems and complaints from staff, clients and/or agencies; coordinate any evidentiary hearings with client(s) and State; provide required documentation and represent agency in State Appeals.
(11) Interact with State, agency personnel, outside professionals and the public to receive, disseminate, explain and coordinate information. Participate in state and regional meetings.
(12) Monitor and adjust guidelines of specific programs to ensure program viability through entire 12-month period.

Skilled in: negotiating fees and contracts with vendors; use of basic computer software programs; understanding and applying pertinent laws, rules, regulations and policies; using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; maintaining confidentiality; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines and following up on assignments with minimum direction and supervision; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; understanding, interpreting and communicating complicated policies, procedures and protocols; working in a deadline driven environment; initiating and responding to medium volume of daily calls/contact; interacting with all levels of internal and external professionals while developing strong productive relationships; designing strategies, analyzing results and making recommendations; organization and time management.
Ability to: assist agency/community in design and implementation of new services; conduct training and give public presentations; maintain confidentiality and discretion; be a self-starter; successfully accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously while working independently or within a team environment; work with minimal supervision; interact with a variety of people, cultures, problems and circumstances; analyze and resolve problems involving several variables; understand and carry out written and oral instructions, giving close attention to detail and accuracy.
Additional Details About the Role:
Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking: Must be able to communicate verbally in person and by telephone; ability to speak clearly and concisely to clients and before groups; ability to see and read documents and characters on a computer screen and to observe employees and clients.
Physical Effort/Dexterity: This position works in an office setting with daily routine computer usage; requires the ability to drive a vehicle; light physical exertion and the normal range of motion and dexterity; ability to sit (sometimes for extended periods of time), stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl or climb; ability to lift, pull or drag up to 25 lbs. for short periods of time.
Environmental Factors: Work is generally performed in an office setting; occasional local travel may be required.)
Work Schedule/Characteristics: 40 hours per week; availability outside normal business hours to include weekends and holidays may be required.
License/Certification Requirements: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range: $70,743 - $74,280 annually
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Woodland Park, on site
