Position Summary


A GTI Sales Representative establishes, develops, and nurtures the relationship between GTI and our customers by helping both parties obtain operational and business goals. Duties include managing current customer accounts through customer interactions in offices and in fields; communicating customer orders and ensuring product shipments are properly fulfilled and meet company-set quality standards; and securing new customer relations in California and other assigned areas by expanding industry networks. 


Business travel is up to 50%. 


This is a remote position, and the ideal candidate will be based in Yuma or California’s Imperial Valley to effectively service the desert region.


Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities) 


  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with existing and potential clients within the assigned regions through regular in-person meetings, follow-ups, and personalized service to drive sales and ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Accurately submit plant and transplant orders/updates from customer to Sales Support Staff for fulfillment, and for delivery to the field.
  • Review customer order details in system to ensure accuracy and timely order fulfillment. 
  • Coordinate with customers directly to develop outstanding practices that benefit the customer and GTI.
  • Coordinate with GTI field personnel to develop the most efficient transplanting operations for customers and GTI.
  • Communicate directly with greenhouse personnel and sales team to ensure customers’ wants and needs are met on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate with customers on availability, pricing, quality, and delivery window throughout the order fulfillment process.
  • Communicate in a timely manner via in-person conversations, emails, Outlook Teams messages, and phone calls to all inquiries, both internal and external. 
  • Achieve sales margins based on current marketplace conditions and information given by the Director of Sales and Business Development and CFO.
  • Operate within a given budget.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules, and regulations. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Degree in pertinent field of study required. 
  • Greenhouse and transplanting experience preferred. 
  • Vegetable industry experience preferred. 
  • Willingness to travel beyond the immediate region, primarily within California, with occasional travel to other Western U.S. states (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, etc.) and Mexico. Travel requirements may account for up to 50% of work time. 
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate amounts such as plant totals, price discounts, interest, percentages, area, perimeter and plants per acre. 
  • Must be proactive, energetic, a self-starter who can work independently and within a team. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required. 
  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Office Suite skills necessary. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) conversational level speaking skills preferred. 
  • Must have a valid CA Driver’s License and must maintain eligibility for company vehicle insurance. 


Compensation: $75,000 to $95,000 + Bonus 


The salary range provided reflects the lowest to highest amount we reasonably anticipate paying for this position at the time of posting, and it is further determined by factors such as candidate location and skillset, current labor market conditions, current minimum wage in the area, travel requirements, sales or revenue targets, and additional business needs. 


It is not typical for a new hire to be offered the highest end of the salary range. Pay decisions are made based on the unique circumstances of each candidate and position. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and other benefits to eligible employees. 


Physical Requirements


While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, drive vehicles, use hands to manipulate tools and products, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities within this role include close distance and color vision.
